With the clocks about to change and sunny weather on its way, it’s time to dust off the cobwebs, get the walking boots on and head outdoors. We’ve gathered some of our favourite countryside walks and destinations that we would highly recommend visiting. We’ve included distances too, to help you plan your days out.

Old Harry Rocks

30 miles from Captain’s Club

One of the South Coast’s most famous landmarks, Old Harry Rocks stand proud at the southern end of Studland Bay. The popular name given to the chalk formations refers to the single stack of chalk standing furthest out to sea. Old Harry can easily be reached by walking along the beautiful South West Coast Path.

Boscombe Pier

3.6 miles from Captain’s Club

The perfect place for a romantic stroll, Boscombe Pier is a must-see. The top of the pier is a fantastic spot to take in some fresh sea air and capture beautiful photographs. There’s also the Musical Trail along the pier, including Tubular Bells and bespoke seaside charms, transforming a picturesque walk into a relaxing sensory experience.

River Stour

Less than 100 feet from our front door

Our hotel rests on the banks of the River Stour, so it goes without saying that we definitely recommend a wander along the riverside. Discover beautiful scenery and plenty of opportunities for snapping photographs as you make your way along the water’s edge.

Corfe Castle

25 miles from Captain’s Club

Enjoy breathtaking views and enchanting ruins with a visit to Corfe Castle. A favourite with both adults and children, explore over 1,000 years of history, discover unique wildlife and enjoy a rest with a cup of tea and slice of cake at Castle View. If you’re really in the mood for exploring, you can even walk along the Purbeck Ridgeway to the sea and return by steam train.

Durdle Door

29.6 miles from Captain’s Club

Follow the natural cliff path down to Durdle Door beach and discover one of the world’s most famous stone archways. One of our favourite places to visit, Durdle Door is a popular destination for rock-pooling, walking, camping and photography, and the stunning views are one not be missed during your stay.

Looking to book your next riverside break in Dorset? Explore our luxuriously comfortable rooms, choose the one that suits you best and start planning your days out.
